The two roundtables on 8 July 2025 in Singapore will bring together policymakers, industry leaders, and experts to address two urgent challenges facing ASEAN: plastics pollution and rising diet-related health risks. Framed around the Global Plastics Treaty and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) regulations, the event explores how global frameworks and national strategies can converge to drive sustainable, innovation-friendly outcomes for business and society.
Attendees may choose to join the full-day event or register for either the morning or afternoon session.
The morning session will focus on the Global Plastics Treaty, which is entering a critical stage of negotiations. With Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), product design, and just transition on the agenda, this roundtable provides businesses, industry associations, and experts an opportunity to share perspectives, raise concerns, and contribute to a unified industry position to inform the upcoming INC 5.2 negotiations in August. Outputs will be compiled into a set of key business recommendations and shared with negotiating parties from across the ASEAN region ahead of the next negotiation round.
The afternoon FMCG roundtable turns to Singapore’s evolving regulatory approach to public health and nutrition, particularly around High in Fat, Sugar, and Salt (HFSS) foods. Building on the EU-ABC’s latest FMCG report, the discussion will cover front-of-pack and back-of-pack labelling, digital tools, and policy tools beyond taxation. This session aims to chart a forward-looking regulatory path that supports healthier consumption while promoting innovation and regional policy coherence.
