BECOME A MEMBER

The EU-ABC has two categories of membership available to applicants:

1. Multi-National Corporation (MNC) membership
2. Associate membership

1. Multinational Corporation Membership

Membership of the EU-ASEAN Business Council shall be open to companies which are, or whose parent company is:

• Headquartered in a Member State of the European Union or EFTA or European Customs Union, or a country which was in the European Union or the EFTA or European Customs Union, and which have direct operations (e.g. distribution, marketing) in the ASEAN region,

• Are members of at least two European Chambers which are themselves EU-ABC members.

• Have an annual global turnover above Euro 100,000,000.

• All parent and subsidiary companies, or affiliated companies, and all companies under substantially the same control or management shall be considered as a group and shall be considered as a single member.

• Has agreed to be bound by the terms and conditions of membership and the provi-sions of the EU-ASEAN Business Council Constitution (see: https://www.eu-asean.eu/our-governance )

MNC Members of the EU-ABC may attend up to 3 Mission Trips per annum free of charge. Attendance at additional Mission Trip will be chargeable.

Benefits for Corporate Members

• Mission trips to ASEAN member states and government ministries (MNC members of the EU-ABC may attend up to 3 mission trips per year, free of charge. Additional mission trips will be chargeable at the standard non-member rate.

• Participation in ASEAN ministerial meetings, ASEAN working groups,

• Participation and input in EU-ABC advocacy groups

• Access to high-level engagement and dialogue opportunities with policy makers and government leaders

• Regular Europe-ASEAN business news updates and strong, sustained advocacy support and advice

• Annual mission trip to Brussels and access to European Trade Commissioner meetings

• Consultation by the EU on FTA issues, and special projects

• Exclusive event invites and member pricing for EU-ABC seminar briefings.

2. Associate Membership

Subject to approval by the Executive Board, associate membership is open to multinational organisations, and other partners of worth with activities in Europe or ASEAN. Associate members are entitled to receive annual updates on the work of the EU-ABC through an annual report by the Chairperson. They are entitled to attend meetings of the General Assembly upon invitation of the Chairperson and be involved in the EU-ABC general activities. The funding responsibilities and the number and type of Associate Membership categories shall be decided by the Executive Board. Associate members shall have no right to vote or to hold office in EU-ABC.

Associate members which are trade associations or similar institutions should have a membership that is majority European companies or companies that are headquartered in the EU or EFTA or European Customs Union or a country which was in the EU or EFTA or European Customs Union. Only full-time employees of such Associate Members may attend EU-ABC meetings, events or mission trips. Any Associate member organisation or individual may attend EU-ABC events and mission trips that are normally free of charge to full MNC members by paying a rate that is 50% of the non-member fee where applicable or any special Associate Member fee.

Associate members which are trade associations or similar institutions should have a membership consisting of majority Euro-pean companies or companies that are headquartered in the EU or EFTA or a country which was in the EU or EFTA. Only full-time employees of such Associate Members may attend EU-ABC meetings, events or mission trips. Any Associate member organisation or individual may attend EU-ABC events and mission trips that are normally free of charge to full MNC members by paying a rate that is 50% of the non-member fee where applicable or any special Associate Member fee.

General information

In compliance with Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Act 2012, by joining the EU-ABC the Member acknowledges and agrees to be included into the EU-ABC mailing list. Personal data provided, may be used to:

– Provide services such as being included in EU-ABC mailing lists

– Better understand members’ needs, e.g., through conducting market research and surveys

– For your security, you may request rights of access, correction, and objection to the personal data provided to us.

All applications for Membership are subject to the approval of the Executive Board. The Executive Board also decides on the membership fees applicable for the different Membership types and on the charging levels and regimes for EU-ABC organised events and mission trips.

By signing up for membership or renewing membership of the EU-ABC all members agree to abide by these terms and conditions and the Constitution of the EU-ABC, including the provisions relating to fees and termination of membership set out in Articles 4.1 and 4.5 respectively. A Member of the EU-ABC is considered a member until or unless its membership has been terminated by the Executive Board, or until the Member has resigned by written notice to the Chairperson of the EU-ABC and copy to the Executive Director. If aMember does not wish to continue its membership into a new financial year, it must provide its resignation letter by no later than 30th November of the previous year, otherwise the member will be liable for full MNC membership fee for the subsequent year.
