The two roundtables on 21 August 2025 in Thailand will convene policymakers, industry leaders, and experts to address two urgent challenges: reducing waste pollution through effective Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) frameworks and addressing rising diet-related health risks through fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) regulations. These sessions aim to foster constructive, evidence-based dialogue on aligning regulatory efforts with business innovation and public interest.
Attendees may choose to join the full event or register for either the morning or afternoon session.
The EPR roundtable will focus on Thailand’s upcoming Sustainable Packaging Management Act, expected to take effect by 2027. As the country transitions from voluntary schemes to a mandatory EPR system, this session will explore how to align the draft law with global best practices and key design principles. Topics include integrating the informal sector, intra-ASEAN alignment, and enabling domestic recycling and demand creation. The discussion will also draw on lessons from voluntary industry pilots to identify practical pathways for implementation.
The FMCG roundtable will address Thailand’s Draft Act to Regulate Marketing of Food and Beverage Affecting Children’s Health, alongside complementary policies on nutrition labelling and reformulation. With rising rates of obesity and NCDs, the session will examine how to balance health objectives with innovation and business practicality. Key topics include age thresholds for advertising bans, opportunities for digital labelling solutions, and multi-pronged policy strategies that move beyond taxation to create supportive food environments. The roundtable will also explore how Thailand can foster greater public-private collaboration to support healthier food environments while maintaining industry competitiveness.
