The two roundtables on 29 July 2025 in Indonesia will convene policymakers, industry leaders, and experts to address two urgent challenges: reducing waste pollution through effective Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) frameworks and addressing rising diet-related health risks through fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) regulations. These sessions aim to foster constructive, evidence-based dialogue on aligning regulatory efforts with business innovation and public interest.

Attendees may choose to join the full-day event or register for either the morning or afternoon session.

The EPR roundtable will focus on translating lessons from global best practices and voluntary initiatives into effective national policy. With Indonesia in the process of developing formal EPR regulations, the discussion comes at a pivotal moment. Participants will explore how key EPR design principles – such as industry-led compliance, cost-effective fee structures, and performance targets – can be adapted to Indonesia’s policy landscape. The session will also examine how to embed multi-stakeholder collaboration into implementation frameworks and what enabling measures are needed to support a just and effective transition to a circular economy.

The FMCG roundtable will examine how Indonesia can strengthen its regulatory and industry response to rising obesity and nutrition-related health risks, particularly through improved food labelling and reformulation strategies. Discussions will cover international best practices in Front-of-Pack (FoPL) labelling, the potential of digital Back-of-Pack (BoPL) tools like QR codes to improve consumer access to nutrition information, and the need for coordinated, multi-pronged approaches that go beyond taxation—spanning reformulation, responsible marketing, and public education. The roundtable will also explore how Indonesia can foster greater public-private collaboration to support healthier food environments while maintaining industry competitiveness.
