Over the past decade, policymakers and businesses in ASEAN have made progress in greening the resource sector. With new governments taking office in two of the region’s biggest agri producers, Indonesia and Thailand, how will national sustainability policy change in the coming years? A new wave of environmental regulations is also affecting trade between ASEAN and major economies, such as the European Union’s Deforestation Regulation set to take effect by the end of this year.
In its 11th edition, the Singapore Dialogue on Sustainable World Resources (SWR) themed ‘Next Economy and the Future of Resources’ will explore the trends shaping the future economy and the role that the agricultural commodities sector will play in this picture – including how government policies and sustainability requirements from international markets will affect trade and investment in ASEAN, and how businesses are working with smallholders in embracing green financing and new technology.
