Job Description – Research Intern

Contract type: Flexible (3-6 months) from Jan 2023 onwards About the EU-ASEAN Business Council The EU-ABC is a non-profit organisation that acts as the voice for European Businesses in ASEAN, formally recognised by the EU Commission and ASEAN Secretariat. We meet regularly with government ministries and officials to advocate for a better business environment in the region by recommending changes in trade and investment policies, and encourage stronger trade relations between the EU and ASEAN. The EU-ABC regularly publishes papers covering challenges faced in different industries and recommendations for these issues. The topics include Customs & Trade Facilitation, Financial Services, Baking & Payments, Digital Economy, Automotive, Healthcare and more. We also publish an annual EU-ASEAN Business Sentiment Survey to find out the perception of European businesses and issues they might face working in ASEAN. Internship Objectives The Research intern will gain first-hand experience working in a dynamic organisation within the government affairs industry. You will be responsible for doing research work on the various industries and advocacy groups covered by the EU-ABC. You will also be supporting our flagship survey, and other publications, which involve data collection, evaluation and overall publication needs. You will have the opportunity to attend conferences and seminars on the covered topics. You will also be responsible for the EU-ABC’s social media and communications. You will be reporting directly to the Executive Director, and will have the opportunity to work with the Executive Board of the EU-ABC. Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree or studying for a Bachelor’s Degree in a programme that requires an internship
  • Broad knowledge of trade and investment relations
  • Excellent research, writing and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to analyse and summarise data efficiently and compellingly
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Independent worker and a team player
