The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated weaknesses in immunisation programmes around the world. In curtailing the spread of the coronavirus, countries across the world suffered regressions in childhood vaccinations as routine immunisation programmes were halted. Likewise, beyond childhood vaccination, other immunisation programmes across the life-course were interrupted and consequently, governments are urgently implementing catch-up programmes.
Life-course immunisation (LCI) is one of the most cost-effective public health interventions, which helps to keep populations healthy and productive by mitigating health complications, no matter how old they are. Over three years on from when the COVID-19 virus was first detected, how far have we come in recognising the value of vaccination and subsequently how we fund and rollout LCI programmes in Southeast Asia?
The EU-ASEAN Business Council has published a whitepaper report supported by Sanofi, capturing these sentiments, including the gaps that remain and a proposed framework for Southeast Asia to progress LCI in the region, coined as the 4Ps of LCI: Payment, Programme, Performance and Process.
This launch webinar will cover key insights of the whitepaper, followed by a panel discussion with key regional and international experts:
• Edward Booty – CEO, reach52
• Prof. Dr Zamberi Sekawi – Consultant Clinical Microbiologist, Universiti Putra Malaysia
• Luke Treloar, Partner, Head of Global Strategy & National Head of Healthcare and Life Sciences, KPMG Vietnam
• Dr Ruma Bhargava, Global Lead for Healthcare, World Economic Forum
